Dr. Christian Balldin Discusses New Concussion Guidelines with WOAI

TSAOG’s Dr. Christian Balldin was interviewed by WOAI’s Jim Forsyth yesterday regarding the American Academy of Neurology’s new guidelines for concussions.

According to Dr. Balldin, “A majority of concussions don’t involve loss of consciousness, in fact, 90% of them do not,” so there is good reason for the new American Academy of Neurology guidelines which stress immediate removal from play for any athlete suspected of experiencing a concussion until such time as that athlete can be evaluated by a medical professional trained in concussions.
