About Dr. David Espinoza:

Dr. Espinoza is a board certified family medicine physician that is fellowship trained and certified in primary care sports medicine. He is originally from Deep South Texas in the Rio Grande Valley and obtained his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with honors. He moved to Houston, where he earned his medical doctorate at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He then completed his Family Medicine residency at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa here in San Antonio, Texas.

During his residency, Dr. Espinoza gained a special understanding for the chronic conditions that plague the people of South Texas and San Antonio, and due to his experiences in family medicine, he decided to pursue a fellowship in sports medicine so that he could learn more about musculoskeletal conditions that limit and inevitably lead to the higher likelihood of developing chronic medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes and hyperlipidemia. He completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and subsequently took on a position with UPMC where he served as Assistant Professor for the University of Pittsburgh Medical School teaching fellows and residents in sports medicine, and served as head team physician for Robert Morris University as well as other local teams and high schools.

Dr. Espinoza is very active in sideline team coverage, concussion management, musculoskeletal ultrasound diagnostics and ultrasound-guided interventional procedures, and has increased interest regenerative medicine treatment modalities as well. He is a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine (AMSSM), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the Texas Medical Association (TMA).

Dr. Espinoza and his wife have been blessed with the opportunity to come back to Texas and provide quality medical care to fellow Texans. Outside of the workplace, Dr. Espinoza is an avid sports fan and he and his wife enjoy traveling, dancing, photography, and spending time with family, friends, and their French bulldog.
